Job Function To establish a learning situation for students that will meet
the needs of each student at his/her own level. To ensure
that each student will grow to his/her greatest intellectual
ability, emotional development and psychological wellbeing.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL SCHOOL
PERSONNEL:
1. All KCPS employees will contribute to and be accountable for the success of our
students and school system as demonstrated through the performance of their duties.
2. All KCPS employees will constantly exhibit a spirit of cooperation and compassion as
we work together to serve our students, parents, community, and one another.
3. All KCPS employees will make decisions and take action based on what is best for
students and the school system.
4. All KCPS employees will support the district’s mission and vision of preparing
students to be college/career ready upon graduation from high school through their
teaching, mentoring, and day to day interactions with students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
2. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs,
interests, and abilities of the students.
3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to
the maturity and interests of the students.
4. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon
request of immediate supervisor and district leadership.
5. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
6. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and
establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to
communicate these objectives to students.
7. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent
with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and
capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
8. Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of
education and instructional goals and objectives.
9. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides
progress reports as required.
10. Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the
assistance of district specialists as required.
11. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,
materials, and facilities.
12. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district
policy, and administrative regulation.
13. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing
student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of
classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair
and just manner.
14. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related
purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under
reasonable terms.
15. Participates in professional learning communities and seeks opportunities for
personal growth as an educator.
16. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
17. Perform additional duties/tasks and assume additional responsibilities as
assigned by the supervisor and/or Superintendent.

• Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
• Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
• Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing and reaching
• Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree in field of assignment (minimum requirement)
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate
