Description

Position is contingent upon grant funding from the ELGIN Foundation.

 240 days Requires a Master's Degree or above, at least three years of administrative experience.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Principal Leadership Support

 

1.      Coach individual principals to improve leadership skills.

2.      Develop and coordinate professional learning activities; participate in and lead professional learning activities on program topics.

3.      Coach program participants and assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of participants’ learning plans.

4.      Participate in own professional growth, conduct research, and analyze data to maintain and enhance skills and performance, also be able to develop a professional development based on enhanced skills.

Facilities Operations

 

1.      Provide supervision and oversight to coordinate maintenance activities to assure the proper and efficient maintenance and repair of district buildings and facilities.

2.      Review maintenance reports and work orders; prioritize and coordinate duties and assignments to assure effective workflow and facilitate operations; coordinate responses to emergency calls.

3.      Provide training, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned maintenance and skilled trades staff; assign and review work and participate in the selection of new personnel as assigned.

4.      Assist in determining needed equipment, materials and supplies for the district maintenance operations; requisition a wide variety of supplies, maintenance tools and equipment.  Maintain adequate supply, and inventory of, custodial and maintenance needs; assist principals in the procurement of the items in stock or to be ordered.

5.      Oversee the bidding and award process for goods and services; communicate with vendors, contractors, and other service providers. Prepare bid specifications for the purchase of supplies, services, and equipment; review bids, schedule and attend bid openings and compile bid results and submit to the Superintendent for board approval

6.      Assure that purchases are made in accordance with applicable laws including model procurement and items for bid.

 

 

Facilities Expansion and Safety

1.      Work with appropriate agencies to conduct inspections of buildings and facilities to determine maintenance and repair needs; maintain certifications, records, files, logs and reports related to facilities.

2.      Recommend the removal of fire, safety or health hazards including asbestos-related issues; instruct staff in safe work practices.

3.      Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other construction personnel on any new building projects or renovations.  Serve as district’s project manager for all reporting to KDE, necessary permits, and job completion.  Collaborate with finance department on expenditures including bonding, state funding, local funding so that appropriate KDE BG documents can be submitted.

4.      Provide district level oversight of the facilities plan with updates as needed or scheduled.

5.      Work directly with insurance providers to obtain quotes, bid for services, or negotiate for policies including property, legal liability, fleet, and student accident insurance.  Submit contracts and policies for board approval and finance department budgeting. 

6.      Participate in any needed investigations of workers compensation, loss prevention, vandalism, and other insurance claims. 

Perform additional duties/tasks and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor and/or Superintendent.
