Job Function Serves as educational leader, supervisor, appraiser, and
interpreter of the educational program in the school
assigned; is responsible for delegating responsibilities as
needed to personnel and is responsible for the safety and
welfare of those assigned to the school; ensures that learning
occurs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL SCHOOL
PERSONNEL:
1. All KCPS employees will contribute to and be accountable for the success of our
students and school system as demonstrated through the performance of their duties.
2. All KCPS employees will constantly exhibit a spirit of cooperation and compassion as
we work together to serve our students, parents, community, and one another.
3. All KCPS employees will make decisions and take action based on what is best for
students and the school system.
4. All KCPS employees will support the district’s mission and vision of preparing
students to be college/career ready upon graduation from high school through their
teaching, mentoring, and day to day interactions with students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans, administers, and supervises the educational program.
2. Responsible for collecting, organizing, analyzing, using, and maintaining all
students’ achievement performance data which are required by the District and
State.
3. After consultation with the SBDM Council, selects staff.
4. Conducts all personnel evaluations.
5. Supervises all certified and classified personnel assigned to the school.
6. Communicates directly and frequently with all members of the staff, SBDM
Council, PTA/PTO, parents, district leadership and community.
7. Responsible for school correspondence, general correspondence, notices for
general distribution to the school community, etc; collaborates with District
communications staff in cases of crisis communication and with news media.
8. Responsible for the interpretation and execution of directives from the
Superintendent and District Leadership.
9. Consults with and advises district staff on issues related to student achievement,
and the effective management of the schools.
10. Directs and assists in preparing all reports as required by the school district.
11. Supervises completion and monitoring of all student records.
12. Manages all discipline in the school per the Board of Education’s Student Code of
Conduct and the school’s SBDM policies while creating a positive school culture
free of disruptions to instruction.
13. Enforces the observation of all federal and state laws (includes Special Education
and the chairing of most Admission and Release Committee {ARC} meetings),
SBDM school policies, rules, and safety regulations.
14. Supervises or collaborates with other school administrative staff to oversee
student-teacher and internship program.
15. Responsible for the maintenance of the building and grounds.
16. Responsible for establishing and maintaining community relations which include
the use of the school facility (Building Usage Policy and requirements).
17. Directs and assists in the classification and promotion of pupils per SBDM policy.
18. Cooperates with student groups in defining and achieving the overall objectives
and effectiveness of the total school program.
19. Coordinates and supervises extracurricular and co-curricular programs and other
after school activities. Supervises or plans for supervision of after school
activities.
20. Maintains a complete inventory of all equipment and supplies in the building(s)
and completes all appropriate and required reports.
21. Perform additional duties/tasks and assume additional responsibilities as
assigned by the supervisor and/or Superintendent.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Master’s Degree
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Valid Kentucky Certification for Principalship
